refreshment of the bones.

[Trust and Obey]

When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

[Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the LORD, and turn away from evil.
It will be healing to your flesh
and refreshment to your bones.]
Proverbs 3:5-8

I was just listening to a sermon on that passage, and it got me thinking.

How much do I REALLY trust the Lord? I say I do, but my actions differ from my words.

Where are my affections? Are they only on myself? I say I seek to do the Lord's will, yet my heart wants to do otherwise. My heart only wants to satisfy its own desires. When was the last time I prayed about a decision I made?

What a fool I am to consult myself for wisdom, being wise in my own eyes, rather than God, the Creator of the universe who has established the world since the days of old!

God help me to fear You. Help me to acknowledge You in ALL my ways. Let me not be wise in my own eyes. Help me not to neglect Your Word. Give me a submissive heart. Help me to trust and obey because that is the ONLY way I will be happy in Jesus.

[I lift my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the LORD
who made heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, he who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD is your keeper;
the LORD is your shade on your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The LORD will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
The LORD will keep
your going out and coming in
from this time forth and forevermore.]

  2. I'm right there with you [: That's why we need to pray for perasmos (trials), so that our faith may be tested, put through the refining fire, and considered proven by the Spirit :D
