Be Thou My Vision
[Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart,
be all else but naught to me, save that thou art;
be thou my best thought in the day and the night,
both waking and sleeping, thy presence my light.
Be thou my wisdom, be thou my true word,
be thou ever with me, and I with thee Lord;
be thou my great Father, and I thy true son;
be thou in me dwelling, and I with thee one.
Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise:
be thou mine inheritance now and always;
be thou and thou only the first in my heart;
O Sovereign of heaven, my treasure thou art.
High King of heaven, thou heaven's bright sun,
O grant me its joys after victory is won;
great Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
still be thou my vision, O Ruler of all.]
I just love the words of this hymn so much. It always reminds me of my insufficiencies as a mere creature of God that's in total need of my Creator who is my joy and my salvation. Oh how we are in endless need of His love, His mercy and His grace! It's so often that I attempt to be satisfied with the things that are in front of me, and totally ignore God.
Lord, let me not be content in the things in front of me, but content in my God and my Creator who sustains me each and every second of my life. Let me not take that for granted because if I do, then the purpose of Christ and the cross would be lost in my heart. Thank You for Your grace that heals me from my blindness. Thank You that absolutely nothing can separate my from my God who loves me deeply. Be thou my vision O Lord of my heart, be all else but naught to me, save that thou art; be thou my best thought by day or by night, both waking and sleeping, thy presence my light.
I invite you all to read the words and let it sink in. :]
